Recent Transition?

Yanni Hufnagel’s recent transition into the Nevada Wolf Pack proved a successful change so far. Yanni Hufnagel, a 30-year-old Jew from Scarsdale, New York, made the big leagues. As a kid, he’d read every book on coaching that he could find while using basketball figures to assimilate plays described in those books.

Yanni Hufnagel began working for his town’s public TV station, calling games for local teams. His broadcast partner at the time said that anyone could see Yanni becoming a coach someday or maybe even a sports announcer. During his first year with Cornell University, Hufnagel was a basketball manager.

He then got a chance to take a summer internship through the New Jersey Nets. After graduating, he got his “big moment” to coach as a Nets colleague referred him to with a past boss in Oklahoma – Jeff Capel, who was looking for a recently graduated assistant coach. Hufnagel flew to Oklahoma for the interview and was immediately offered the position, accepting.
